There are only two things which can add sustainable new core value to the payments network:
1. Add value for consumers - Consumers pay for everything that happens. One can make a good living delivering real value to consumers.
2. Serve the unbanked - In today's world, cash is easy to lose and not even accepted if you want to check into a hotel, rent a car or use any other service where the service delivery and payment aren't delivered at a single point in time.
One or both of these will be the long term winners. Other offerings may work for a short time but will fade out fast.
