Death to Daily Deals: Diversification at Groupon
To date, Groupon’s sales have been driven by the daily deal (50% off spa treatments, for one day only!). But a new online storefront designed for its German users hints at a new commerce strategy.
The site is called Groupon Deals, and while the company’s trademark steep discounts remain a key component of the sales pitch, another trademark is gone: the timer. As noted by TechCrunch, a full range of products — watches, boots, mattresses, electronics — are being sold for 80% off, with no mention of an expiring deal.
Groupon has not commented on whether its Deals storefront model would be rolled out to other countries, but TechCrunch says one of its readers noticed Groupon Deals offers mysteriously appearing in Facebook’s News Feed recently.

I'd be really surprised if they didn't roll this out into other countries. In Australia they have just announced a partnership with Westfield - one of the world's largest shopping centre/mall networks, and they will be featuring deals available from retailers in the stores
