Edward Lampert, chief executive officer for Sears Holdings Corp, said in a November 21 interview with Reuters that the company may opt to close more Sears and Kmart locations within the next year.
According to Reuters, Lampert said that “we need to make the difficult choice,” although he declined to specifically say whether or not stores would be shuttered in 2014.
During the interview, Lampert acknowledged that Sears’ turnaround is not yet complete.
“I would have seen the tide turning by now,” he said. “It hasn’t turned yet. My expectation is that we have a resourceful group of people, and we are going to figure this out.”
