Nokia, INSIDE Secure and More Discuss U.S. Business Case for NFC

Nokia’s Head of NFC Business Development, Damien Balsan, proclaimed earlier this week at the MIT Enterprise Forum in Cambridge, Mass., that 2011 is going to be an “incredible year for NFC.” Yet if you’re skeptical of his prediction, Balsan probably wouldn’t blame you.

“The last four years we’ve heard NFC is coming,” he said. “But where were the handsets? Where were the operators? Now, the three major U.S. carriers have announced a network competitive to Visa and MasterCard. Google CEO Eric Schmidt showing an NFC phone… the world changes. A lot of companies will be built around NFC in the next five years, and it starts now.”
