TSYS announced yesterday (April 21) that it has enabled full service payment processing under American Express OptBlue, the small merchant acquiring program from American Express, according to a TSYS release. The new program allows eligible direct merchants and small merchants from TSYS’ third-party clients to accept and process American Express card transactions, just as they do other payment card transactions from major card networks.
“This exciting new program allows us to offer additional payment options to our clients and their eligible merchants that will enable them to be more competitive,” stated Craig Ludwig, head of product for TSYS’ Merchant Services segment, in the release. “The streamlined back-end processes and servicing allow merchants to spend more time concentrating on growing their business.”
TSYS indicated that merchant benefits of this new capability include improved cash flow, easier and faster reconciliation, and one easy-to-read statement for all card brand activity.
