Banco do Brasil Amercas has partnered with payment processing and commerce solutions provider i2c, Inc. to launch a prepaid EMV card.
According to an i2c press release, the BBA Prepaid Card supports both EMV chip and magstripe technology. The card is also reloadable and allows cardholders to transfer funds into other currencies and store them in purses, or sub-accounts, directly linked to the card.
Banco do Brasil Americas President and CEO Cassio Segura was excited about the opportunities from working with i2c.
“We strive to create financial products and services that are convenient, cost-effective and safe for consumers,” Segura said in an i2c statement. “By working with capable partners like i2c, we were able to integrate a number of useful features into the prepaid card so that it delivers these benefits.”
Currently, the BBA Prepaid Card supports US Dollars, Brazilian Reais, Canadian Dollars, Euros, British Pounds Sterling and Australian Dollars. Through multi-currency purse options, customers can lock-in favorable exchange rates, the i2c statement explained. Additionally, customers can load funds onto the card via online account transfer.
