The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has begun testing a drone delivery system for sensitive government documents and parcels.
The models currently being investigated are capable of flying at 40 kilometers per hour bearing 1.5 kilograms of cargo, The National, a UAE-based news source, reported on Feb. 10.
“What these [drones] are best suited for is delivery of small, light-value things that are time sensitive, like medicines, identification documents, vital papers and things of that nature,” Noah Raford, special adviser to the Office of the Prime Minister, said in a statement.
Late last year, eCommerce giants Amazon and eBay teased that they were also exploring the idea of using delivery drones. Learn more about these concepts by clicking here.
