Ride-sharing up-and-comer Uber is familiar with thinking outside the box, and delivering things as practical as Christmas Trees and strange as kittens, to people around the nation in an effort to spread the word about a new way to catch a ride.
Now Uber, after taking in over a billion dollars in its latest funding round and being valued at almost $20 billion, has reached the time in a young company’s corporate existence where it starts thinking about what’s really important in life. Love, marriage and tolerance seem to be where they are shaking out, according to Forbes.
In honor of Pride Week in San Francisco, Uber wants to help couples of all persuasion tie the knot this weekend, and so app users will find a new choice among the selection of vehicles normally listed in the app: UberWedding.
What is an UberWedding? Well as long as couples can provide all the necessary legal paperwork to get a marriage license, Uber will provide a notary and a qualified officiant as well as flowers, candy and a wedding cake. There is even a honeymoon—granted not one their publicizing the location of just yet, but it’s offered in partnership with Alaska Airlines.
Uber anticipates that it will get far more requests than it can accommodate, but if UberWedding works for you they can get you married in less than an hour door-to-door.
The price? Free, hence hard to argue with.
