Citi’s new mobile app for iPhones launched in the U.S. yesterday (July 1) and is equipped with fresh features based on customer feedback and changing behaviors.
The new Citi Mobile App enables the use of the Touch ID technology on iPhone devices and also integrates with Apple Watch in a more seamless way.
“At Citi we are always listening to our customers to learn how to improve their digital banking experiences,” said Citi Global Consumer Banking Head of Digital Melissa Stevens in a company release. “Customers have asked for faster and easier access, mobile bill pay tools, credit card spend notifications and simpler app menus, and with the new Citi Mobile app, we’ve made major strides toward delivering those things and more.”
The global bank’s new app is set to deliver users consolidated menus, enhanced browsing and an overall simplified experience, Citi said. Other enhancements include mobile bill pay tools, spend notifications, enhanced search and easier mobile check deposits that leverage the iPhone’s camera for an auto-capture feature.
The Apple Watch functionality within the revamped mobile app will offer users the ability to view recent transactions and account balances, while also receiving pertinent push notifications.
Citi announced the first banking app for Apple Watch back in March, but during that time customers were required to download a separate app in order to access account information on the watch. But the redesigned Citi Mobile App itself powers the Apple Watch, the company confirmed.
“Citi customers want mobile banking that is fast, easy and makes their lives simpler,” Citi Global Consumer Banking Chief Client Experience, Digital and Marketing Officer Heather Cox said. “Last year we launched Citi Mobile Snapshot to give customers pre-login access to account information. Today, we are taking the next major step by enabling login with a mere touch through Touch ID, while also introducing a suite of new features easily navigated in a completely redesigned app.”
Mobile banking is indeed gaining steam, as evidenced by a recent Bank of America survey. The survey found that 62 percent of consumers are checking a mobile banking app at least a few days a week, while 20 percent of consumers said they checked their banking app once a day or more than once a day.
