In honor of its new online photo storage and sharing app, Google Photos, the company has embarked on its #PayWithAPhoto promotional campaign in four cities across the U.S.
Not only is the campaign rolling out to spread the word about Google Photos, but it is also bringing a unique twist to payments along the way.
In each city the Google Photos food truck will provide free local snacks to people who can find a specific photo on their phone that falls into a popular Google Photos search category, such as boat, dog or beach, before a countdown with 20 seconds on the board runs out, Creativity reported yesterday (Aug. 25).
The idea is to challenge participants in friendly competition while also highlighting the search functionality of Google Photos. Winners of the game get to “pay” for the available snack by showing the matching image they found.
The #PayWithAPhoto event kicked off in New York City last week, offering waffles from Wafels & Dinges, before moving to Los Angeles, where participants could score free ice cream sandwiches from Coolhaus.
Google Photos has been keeping its Twitter feed buzzing with updates on where interested participants can hope to track down its food truck.

The Google Photos food truck will round out its cross-country journey by dishing out free snacks in Portland, Oregon, from Aug. 28 to Aug. 29, and finally Austin, Texas, from Sept. 4 to Sept. 5, Creativity confirmed.
