Wayfair.com customers will soon have access to a new way to shop when MasterCard’s MasterPass is included as a payment option this fall. The online retailer of home goods and furnishings and its portfolio of brands, which include AllModern, Birch Lane, DwellStudio and Joss & Main, announced its plans Wednesday (June 3) to provide an easier shopping experience to customers by featuring the mobile payment option.
“We are laser-focused on offering our customers a best-in-class shopping experience across all platforms,” said Michael O’Hanlon, Wayfair’s vice president of corporate and business development, in a company release. “MasterPass makes it easier than ever for our customers to make a purchase quickly and securely.”
The company joins the ranks of other major retailers which have recently made the move to offer the mobile payment option.
MasterPass, which allows customers to make purchases online or in-app using any device, will be made available for all Wayfair brands and within the mobile apps for Wayfair.com, AllModern, and Joss & Main. The digital payment system stores a preferred payment method and shipping information, and then makes it readily accessible to the customer during checkout.
Currently accepted in 17 countries, the convenience to customers and timesaving benefits MasterPass aims to provide may explain its steady growth.
“People shop online because they like the convenience of being able to find and buy what they want, when they want,” said Michael Cyr, group executive of MasterCard’s U.S. Market Development. “Our goal is to make paying for your order just as simple. MasterPass enhances the shopping experience by eliminating the hassle of entering shipping and billing information, leaving consumers more time to enjoy the things that matter most.”
MasterPass accounts can be set up online through the MasterCard website or through a participating bank such as Citibank, which offers access to MasterPass in Citi Wallet.
