mFoundry's SVP of Wallet & Payments Jon Squire discusses how his company is driving innovation at the POS with projects like the one just launched with Starbucks where the coffee giant became the first company to launch an iPhone app exclusively for a payments card.
mFoundry's new innovation for retail mobilizes existing gift card programs and loyalty programs. With the platform, their resell partners can empower their customers to check their card balance and transaction history, reload their card remotely, and use their solution's 2D barcode technology to pay for purchases at the retailer's point of sale.

Would tend to agree, the retailer knows their customer base best and can deploy whatever POS that helps them interact with the mobile market.
