The power of CrestaTech’s universal TV receiver can now be plugged into any computing platform. The programmable broadband company this week at Computex Taiwan revealed updated hardware and software that can bring crisp, live television to all notebook PCs based on Intel, AMD and NVIDIA processors.
CrestaTech, recent winner of the Frost & Sullivan Mobile TV Reception Technology Innovation of the Year award, designed CrestaTV™ Universal Broadband Receiver as the only truly universal PCTV receiver, supporting all digital and analog TV broadcast formats worldwide including ASTC, NTSC, Cable QAM, DVBT and PAL. Its technology repartitions the television receiver into hardware and software blocks, thereby taking full advantage of the parallel processing power of today’s modern multi-core processors.
Now, with its new ability to run on all major computing platforms as well, CrestaTV provides a breakthrough for PCTV simplicity, flexibility, price and performance.
“Our CrestaTV broadband receiver technology is a high-tech chameleon that adapts to any environment. The programmable RF IC and software combination works in any OEM platform, receives any broadcast signal, and operates in any country,” said George Haber, CrestaTech president and CEO. “This unprecedented flexibility makes CrestaTV the industry’s most cost-effective PCTV receiver, cutting system costs in half compared to competitive silicon solutions.”
CrestaTV is a complete PCTV receiver, including a global tuner, demodulator and an A/V decoder. OEMs can implement CrestaTV on PCI express cards for desktops and PCI mini-express cards or USB TV modules for laptops. The USB and PCI express mini-card modules are sampling now to major PC OEMs.
In addition, the programmable broadband solution comes with CrestaWare software applications, which provide fast channel scanning, enhanced reception, TV and radio tower geo-location, and more. CrestaTech also has an open platform for development of social media and user-generated content programs. For consumers and global travelers, this means region-free live TV, radio and GPS reception with local channel guides always available from their laptops and a plethora of new integrated applications.
