BRIDGE COMMUNITY BANK BENEFITS FROM NACHA’S DEPOSITED CHECK TRUNCATION PILOT
Aptys Solutions, a payments network provider for financial institutions nationwide, and Mechanicsville, Iowa-based Bridge Community Bank announced positive results from the NACHA-initiated Deposited Check Truncation (DCT) Pilot, a program that facilitates the truncation of low-value consumer checks between financial institutions.
The Federal Reserve recently announced that it is reducing electronic image pricing 12-13 percent starting in 2011. According to Bob Steen, chairman of Bridge Community Bank, although the reduction in pricing provides minimal cost-savings for the bank, it still does not trump the cost-savings that ACH provides. Fifty percent of the items Bridge Community Bank handles every day are eligible for truncation under the DCT Pilot. “Under current pricing, we are saving 90 percent on the variable cost of each item we process with DCT,” said Steen.
Bridge Community Bank has participated in the DCT Pilot since its launch in August using Aptys Solutions’ PayLOGICS system, the industry’s only common platform to support all aspects of payment processing. Aptys Solutions assists financial institutions in growing revenues and attracting new customers by offering an independent, unified payment solution and presenting new products and services.
“Through Aptys and NACHA, Bridge Community Bank is taking advantage of the seamless process that DCT offers everyday,” continued Steen. “We’ve been converting checks to ACH since the middle of August and have not had a single inquiry from a participating bank for a copy of an original check.”
“Financial institutions today are evaluating technology that enables them to improve profitability and overall operational efficiency,” said Sean Pennock, president of Aptys Solutions. “NACHA’s DCT Pilot has the potential to deliver these benefits to financial institutions of all sizes. Aptys’ image exchange, ACH, and least cost routing technology enable Bridge Community Bank to realize cost savings and a competitive advantage as a benefit of the DCT Pilot. Our participation in the DCT Pilot is just one way in which Aptys is working to bridge legacy and emerging payments.”
