Andrew Higginson (Chief Executive of Retailing Services and Group Strategy Director, Tesco PLC) during the "Consumer 2020: What Lies Ahead for the Retail Industry?" panel brought up Tesco’s credit card product, saying that one in nine transactions in the UK at Tesco is now done on a Tesco card.
“It’s pretty amazing when you consider we’ve only been in banking 12 or 13 years,” he said.
He also noted that consumers are using the card to “buy things and then pay their bills off, which is not very popular with bankers.” However, he said he personally was very pleased with the extent of Tesco credit card usage.
