Medworxx Inc. (“Medworxx”) (TSXV: MWX), a leader in clinical patient flow solutions, and Fujitsu Canada, a leader in Canadian healthcare consulting, announce an agreement to join forces in reducing Canadian systemic waste caused by patient flow disruptions. The companies are teaming to enhance value for hospitals by providing straightforward means to assess core patient flow challenges.
“The acute level of congestion in BC’s healthcare system has prompted our Health Authorities to look for effective and innovative ways to deal with patient access and flow issues. The system is complex and the issues are often complex as well. To better help our clients address their patient flow related issues, we strive to stay in the forefront and constantly look for new partners and solutions that complement our core service and product offerings in the health sector.” said Peter Durrant, BC Business Unit Manager for Fujitsu Canada.
The teaming agreement sets the stage for Fujitsu Canada to leverage its expertise in Lean Healthcare and Healthcare Management Consulting, and support Medworxx in the expansion of their highly effective Patient Flow Diagnostic program within the Canadian markets.
“If you can measure the barriers and delays effecting your system then you can manage them – our role in this case is simple, we help Fujitsu to work with hospitals to assess and address ways in which patient flow can be enhanced,” said Dan Matlow, President/CEO of Medworxx. “We’re talking about impact on wait times, readmissions, wasted days in hospital. Fujitsu has consultants who can leverage our concurrently assessed data to truly help hospitals improve their patient flow.”
The Patient Flow Diagnostic is based on a program developed in coordination with the UK-based consultancy, Model Advice. Proven as effective in several NHS Trust organizations, including Medworxx client Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust, the diagnostic methodology involves a clinical and operational audit of patient flow processes.
Medworxx Patient Flow, including Medworxx Utilization Management and Medworxx Bed Board, are being demonstrated in the newest Microsoft .NET form at the Health Information Systems Society (HIMSS) Annual Conference commencing on February 20, 2012. With more than 30,000 attendees, the company anticipates interest in this Canadian-based solution’s answers to global issues in patient flow.
Medworxx international expansion is encouraged by growth from 2010 thru 2011 that marks a 36% increase in coverage to a total of ~ 21,000 beds licensed internationally, including agreements with four of Canada’s 10 Provinces, as well with Local Health Integration Networks (LHIN), regional and local hospitals–and also in the UK NHS Trust. At this site of the company’s US launch, Medworxx is also seeking further consultancy partnerships to bring the Patient Flow Diagnostic into the toolkit for performance improvement, ACO, Accountable Care and quality improvement.
