As if there needs to be another reason not to ever leave your house or apartment, food delivery startup Postmates is getting into the business of alcohol delivery.
According to a blog post, the startup said it is getting into the wine, beer and spirits delivery business because it’s a “well-known fact that people drink more than they eat. And it’s even more known that few things go well with everything, in the way that alcohol does.” Boasting 2 million orders delivered per month via Postmates, the startup said customers in San Francisco and Los Angeles can now order from a collection of beer, wine and spirits from local liquor stores in both cities. The best part: The alcohol will be delivered to customers in both cities within minutes.
“This is the first of many new on-demand shopping experiences to come. We’ve always prided ourselves on the choice that we give our customers. There is no need to use multiple apps, when everything you need is available on Postmates. Our goal is to continue delivering on that promise, while lowering delivery fees,” Postmates said in the post. Unlimited subscribers to Postmates will get free delivery on all beverage orders, and non-subscribers will get free delivery on all orders over $30. Postmates said the service will come to other markets soon.
