CashStar, the provider of prepaid commerce solutions, announced Wednesday (Dec. 21) it inked deals with two companies to bring digital gift cards to consumers.
In one announcement, CashStar revealed that OpenSky, the online marketplace, is now offering digital gift cards to consumers for the first time thanks to the CashStar Commerce platform. “We selected CashStar to power our gift card program because they’re the ideal partner for our eCommerce business model,” said Andrew Pavoni, general manager of OpenSky, in a press release announcing the development. “They are proven experts in digital gifting with a flexible, scalable platform that will ensure a seamless customer experience. We are especially excited to support our customers’ affinity for sharing OpenSky with friends and family by providing them with a new eGifting experience.”
The CashStar Commerce platform will allow shoppers to give the gift of OpenSky via digital gift cards. Purchasers can customize the cards with a personalized message, add a photo, select a purchase denomination and choose from multiple faceplates. The cards can be delivered instantly or at a future date. “OpenSky recognizes the opportunities that digital gift cards provide, both from a pure gifting standpoint and as a marketing and engagement tool,” said CashStar President and CEO Ben Kaplan in the same press release. “We are thrilled to power their program and look forward to helping the OpenSky team realize the powerful impact digital gift cards can have on the customer experience and the bottom line.”
Separately, CashStar announced Marcus Theatres, a division of The Marcus Corp., is using the CashStar Commerce platform to power its new eGift Card program. In a press release, CashStar said Marcus Theatres is using the CashStar Marketing application to offer a gift option with a perk. This holiday season, the company is giving $5 in Snack Cash with every $25 eGift Card purchase. Snack Cash, which is a food and beverage voucher valid for a future date at Marcus Theatres, can be used as part of a gift or it can be an incentive for the purchaser.
“Creating a seamless and intuitive experience for our customers is of the highest priority to Marcus Theatres,” said Clint Wisialowski, VP of sales at Marcus Theatres, in the press release. “We evaluated CashStar after recognizing the need for a solution with a scalable, digital presence to keep up with demand and realized partnering with them was the clear choice. With an easy, streamlined purchasing experience, secure checkout and back-end support, we can provide our guests with an excellent experience, while continuing to grow our loyalty program.”
