Regions Bank Plucks New CIO From FinTech Arena

As technology becomes more infused in everyday processes, the banking world is taking note and pulling resources from the FinTech arena.

The latest example of this comes from Regions Bank at its corporate headquarters in Birmingham, Ala. The bank’s corporate office has chosen Amala Duggirala as its new CIO.

Prior to joining the Regions Bank community, Duggirala served as the CTO of Kabbage, a small business lender. While at Kabbage, Duggirala was responsible for moving the ball forward on the company’s lending platform scalability. She also worked as the executive vice president of application development at payments technology company ACI Worldwide and was recognized as one of the 2016 most influential women in the payments industry by PaymentsSource.

Regions Bank’s head of regional banking, John Owen, and Duggirala’s direct supervisor commented on her hiring and the value she’ll add to the team. He said, “Technology is consistently transforming how people and businesses manage their finances, and as a company, Regions continues to evolve how we serve our customers. Amala’s experience in developing payment technology between consumers and retailers, as well as her leadership in building large-scale, high-performing systems, will support Regions’ commitment to product development and innovation.”
