If you’ve been perusing a certain porn site, your identity could be at risk. An exposure — and not the kind anyone wants: Approximately 800,000 names, user IDs and some conversations may be exposed after hackers allegedly broke into the Brazzers porn forum.
Vice’s Motherboard, which first reported the breach, said the leaked data included users’ email addresses, usernames and passwords. Brazzers spokesman Matt Stevens said the breach appears to be similar to an incident that occurred in 2012, at which point the site was managed by an outside party.
Brazzers said it has worked with Troy Hunt, a security researcher, to verify the information and has begun contacting certain site users.
In a statement, Brazzers said the company “takes the privacy and safety of its users very seriously.”
Stevens said that, back in 2012, “corrective measures” were taken, but he would not disclose the name of the software company used.
While Brazzers is “under maintenance,” users concerned about their information can check HaveIBeenPwned.com to see if their data has been compromised.
