Coca-Cola Bottlers EU Antitrust Suit Scrapped

 |  February 28, 2023

The European Commission has dropped an investigation into potential anti-competitive practices by Coca-Cola and its bottlers, stating there was insufficient evidence to pursue the case, reported Reuters.

The Commission had been looking into allegations that Coca-Cola had used conditional rebates to block the entry of other drinks in some EU countries. This decision marks a major victory for the soft drink giant, who had been facing potential antitrust sanctions from the EU.

“Based on the evidence collected, the Commission has concluded that there is insufficient ground to further pursue the investigation,” the EU competition enforcer said in a statement.

“The closure of the investigation is not a finding that the conduct in question complies with EU competition rules,” it said.
The company has stated that they are pleased with the outcome and will continue to adhere to all EU regulations.
