US Antitrust Expert Tim Wu Says Reports On His Leaving Premature

Recent reports of Tim Wu leaving the Biden administration may be premature according to a recent tweet. 
Bloomberg reported on Monday that noted antitrust expert and White House advisor Tim Wu was set to leave his position in the coming months, with plans to return to Columbia University.

    Wu, however, sent a tweet saying the claims were not accurate, shooting down the earlier reports. “Rumors of my leaving the WH are greatly exaggerated— still a lot of work to do!”

    Wu was the key architect behind President Joe Biden’s executive order to bolster competition, issued last year, which included 72 initiatives by more than a dozen federal agencies. The administration focused on improving competition within industries including technology, health care and agriculture.

    Wu, who coined the term “net neutrality,” rose to prominence as one of the most aggressive critics of the so-called Big Tech and telecom companies, arguing they havehad a stranglehold over the economy that hurts smaller companies and consumers. In early 2020, Wu offered his signature warning: “Antitrust winter is over,” after which Biden brought him into the administration.
