 |  August 28, 2018

Colombia’s Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) has set a fine of 740 million Colombian pesos (US $252,000) on Comercializadora de Franquicias S.A. (Ticket Shop) and its legal representatives, for having offered “misleading information and advertising for the fictitious on line sale” of 6 thousand tickets to the Russia 2018 world cup elimination match between the Colombian and Brazilian national teams.

According to the SIC, for this particular match held on September 5, 2017 at the Metropolitan Stadium in Barranquilla, some 14,000 tickets were allegedly diverted to be resold for up to four times their value.

“Ticket Shop deceived consumers, deluded them, mocked them, had them stay up late to buy a ticket online when there was not a single one available,” said Pablo Felipe Robledo, head of SIC.

Robledo clarified that the sanction “is absolutely different and independent to the file that being processed for presumed restrictive competitive practices” mentioned above, which includes the members of Ticketya and directors of the Colombian Football Federation.
