Spain’s CNMC (National Commission of Markets and Competition) has authorized three merger operations during the month of March. On March 8 it approved the acquisition of Grupo Unieléctrica by Grupo Audax through a vehicle company called Erix. The sector affected by the operation is the electricity sector, and, in particular, the sale of electricity, at a national level.
On March 22, the CNMC also authorized, in its first phase, the acquisition of exclusive control by Orphan, a subsidiary of Recordati, of a series of assets for the manufacture and marketing of a certain drug. Recordati, is dedicated to the research, manufacture and sale of drugs and other health products.
Finally, on March 22, the CNMC authorized the full acquisition by Hidroeléctrica of the Saltos del Cabrera company, over which it already had joint control. The operation affects the electricity distribution sector in the municipalities of León and Ourense.
