El grupo industrial brasileño Gerdau anunció que ha alcanzado un acuerdo de compra con un grupo de empresarios chilenos, quienes comprarán todas las operaciones de la acerera dentro del país. El grupo adquirente está integrado por Matco Cables con el 45 % (integrado por las familias Matetic Riestra y Conrads Ruiz-Tagle) e Ingeniería e Inversiones con otro 45 % (encabezado por José Luis del Río Goudie).
