As aircraft manufacturer Boeing looks to partner with Singapore Airlines subsidiary SIA Engineering, competition authorities would like public input on the joint venture.
The Competition Commission of Singapore is reportedly seeking public comment on the joint venture that would see Boeing and SIA establish a company that offers airline repair, maintenance and overhaul services along with airline engineering, logistics, inventory management and supply chain services.
The CCS said it received a notification regarding the venture late last month. In the filing, Boeing and SIA argue that the new company would service customers throughout the South Asia Pacific region and would not only service SIA customers. The companies stated that their partnership “will not result in a substantial lessening of competition in any market in Singapore because of, inter alia, a number of competitors that currently exist, the ability of customers to easily switch between suppliers and ease and likelihood of entry by potential competitors.”
The CCS is now seeking submissions for comments on the venture through December 31.
