Following allegations of anticompetitive practices, Italy’s antitrust regulator has announced it will open an investigation into national railway Italian State Railways, including its subsidiaries. Rival railway company NTV accused Italian State Railways of excluding NTV though, in addition to other means, blocking NTV’s access to certain infrastructure as well as selling tickets at below market prices. The company has refuted the claims through a press release last month. Regulators expect to complete their investigation into the matter in July of 2014.
