Sharis Pozen, former acting assistant attorney general in the DOJ’s Antitrust division joins law firm Skadden Arps in September, after a 3 and half year tenure in the government. Pozen’s career began at the Federal Trade Commission, where she spent more than five years. She then went to private practice for 15 years before joining DOJ in 2009 as the agency’s chief of staff and counsel. Pozen stepped in as acting assistant attorney general in August 2011 as a replacement for Christine Varney. She resigned from her role at the DOJ in April 2012. At the DOJ, Pozen led the successful effort to block the $39 billion merger between T-Mobile USA and AT&T, and led a team of DOJ attorneys to file suit against Apple and e-book publishers, accusing them of price fixing.
