 |  April 4, 2012

The Competition Commission of India has fined Schott Glass India Rs 5.66 crore for abuse of its dominant position in the borosilicate glass tube market. Schott’s former rival, Kapoor Glass, had filed a complaint with the Commission, alleging that Schott imposed unfair conditions on the purchase of glass tubes in India. Kapoor Glass also claimed that Schott drove competitors out of the market (including Kapoor Glass) by selling tubes at low prices, rewarding loyalty discounts to manufacturers, and poaching employees from rival glass tube sellers.
