Italian Watchdog Probes Verallia and Local Glass Firms for Anticompetitive Practices
Verallia Italia a prominent subsidiary of glass packaging giant Verallia, finds itself under scrutiny by the Italian Antitrust Authority, alongside several other local glass manufacturers. The investigation revolves around alleged anticompetitive practices in the production and commercialization of glass wine bottles in Italy, specifically those manufactured from the year 2022 onward.
On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, officials from the Italian Antitrust Authority conducted inspections at the main offices of Verallia Italia S.p.a. and other implicated companies. The investigation also extended to the national trade association Assovetro.
Verallia, in response to the investigation, has promptly provided all requested information and is actively cooperating with the Antitrust Authority throughout the process. The company, known for its commitment to compliance with regulations and business ethics, reiterated that these principles are fundamental to its values.
