Carlos Ragazzo
Carlos Ragazzo is a distinguished legal scholar and consultant specializing in Competition, Regulation, and Commercial Law. Currently serving as a Professor at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation’s School of Law in Rio de Janeiro (FGV Law Rio), Ragazzo brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the field. His impressive career includes serving as CADE’s (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) first General Superintendent from 2012 to 2014, where he played a pivotal role in shaping Brazilian competition law. Before this, Ragazzo served as a Commissioner at CADE from 2008 to 2012, demonstrating his commitment to promoting fair competition and market regulation. Ragazzo's extensive governmental experience also includes holding the position of Head of the Antitrust Unit at the Secretariat of Economic Monitoring (SEAE) of the Ministry of Finance from 2003 to 2008, where he contributed to the development of economic policies and regulatory frameworks. Beyond his governmental roles, Ragazzo has held key positions in the private sector, serving as Vice President of a major K12 company in Brazil and later as President of the Law Publishing Committee for Saraiva. He also contributes to the advancement of education as a Partner at the NGO Organization Todos pela Educação. Ragazzo's academic credentials are equally impressive, holding an SJD and a Master's of Laws with honours from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), as well as a Master of Laws in Trade Regulation and Competition Policy from the New York University School of Law (NYU). He earned his Bachelor of Laws from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ). Licensed to practice law in Rio de Janeiro and New York State, Ragazzo is widely respected for his contributions to the legal and regulatory landscape.
