The collaboration, announced Monday (Nov. 2), gives beauty and wellness businesses the ability to offer buy now, pay later (BNPL) plans to customers. It’s happening at a time when beauty and wellness clients are investing more in “longer-term selfcare journeys,” Fresh Founder and CEO William Zeqiri said in a news release.

“Klarna helps remove barriers to booking by giving consumers more flexibility in how they pay, while helping businesses improve conversion, strengthen client retention, and build lasting customer relationships,” Zeqiri said. “Bringing Klarna directly into Fresha allows our partners to offer that flexibility through a seamless experience that remains fully connected to their bookings, payments, and client management.”

The BNPL option is available through Fresha’s new “Payment Methods” experience, letting businesses offer clients the option to pay in full or spread the cost of purchases over time.

The release noted that the addition of Klarna follows rising demand from Fresha’s partners searching for more flexible payment options to cover higher-value services as treatment plans become more “results-driven” and personalized.

“Klarna has consistently been one of the most requested payment capabilities from Fresha partners,” said Dane Carmody, Fresha’s head of product.

“Businesses offering services such as aesthetics, laser treatments, advanced skincare, wellness programmes, and premium hair services have been asking for more ways to support clients investing in higher-value experiences.”

In other BNPL news, recent PYMNTS Intelligence research finds that pay later providers who are competing on monthly payment size, total cost and interest-free terms are dealing with customers who have different definitions of an attractive offer, particularly among households with children.

Monthly payment amount is the top consideration for 34% of married parents, per PYMNTS Intelligence’s report “The Family Factor: Where Pay Later Providers Can Compete,” an analysis of the broader pay alter ecosystem. Purchase/payment cost came in second at 26%.

Single parents took the opposite approach, with 29% placing purchase or payment cost first, while 25% prioritized the monthly amount.

“The differences suggest two approaches to serving families. An offer emphasizing the recurring payment addresses married parents’ strongest stated priority,” PYMNTS wrote last week.

“An offer emphasizing cost speaks more directly to single parents’ leading concern. Both groups value affordability, giving providers a reason to distinguish between the expense consumers take on and the amount they commit to paying each month.”
