 |  August 7, 2018

The Union of Workers, Employees and Specialists for the Telecommunications Services and Industries of Entre Ríos, in a document sent to the National Federation of Telecommunications Union Organizations and other related institutions, questioned the approval granted by Argentina’s telecommunications regulatory agency, ENACOM, authorizing the merger of Telecom and Cablevisión through the National Commission for the Defense of Competition.

“Clearly and plainly we are in the presence of a monopoly on the provision of internet, telephony and television that will impose very high costs and a questionable service for Argentine users,” the union claims, pointing out that “both companies, now unified, have a history of arbitrary and anti-union practices “, says the document sent by the leader of the telephone union, Fernando Barboza.

The document ends with a call to all workers “to join forces to stop this onslaught by multinationals, requesting intervention by the state.
