Bulgaria: Complaints filled against ranking in Sofia Airport concession

Fraport Bulgaria has filed a complaint against the ranking of offers in the tender for a 35-year concession contract to run Sofia Airport, increasing the number of complainants to three, data by the country’s competition authority showed on Monday, July 29.

Fraport Bulgaria filed its complaint on Monday, according to the data published on the website of the Commission for Protection of Competition.

UK’s MAG Overseas Investment and Aeroports de Paris (ADP) filed separate complaints on Friday, the regulator’s data shows.

Earlier this month, Bulgaria’s transport ministry ranked as the best offer the bid submitted by the Sof Connect consortium led by French investment firm Meridiam Eastern Europe Investments, with Flughafen Munchen named as airport operator. The consortium’s offer was awarded 86.12 points out of a maximum score of 100 points.

The winning consortium offered to pay a concession fee of €24.5 million (US$27.5 million) per year for the duration of the contract and pledged to make investments of €608 million (US$677.9 million) in Sofia Airport.
