Olivier Guersent, who is currently Director General of DG FISMA (financial stability and capital markets), will be the new Director General at DG Comp as the successor of Johannes Laitenberger, who became a judge at the European Court.
Previously, Mr. Guersent was deputy general manager in charge of financial services. He also headed the cabinet of Michel Barnier, Commissioner for the Internal Market and Services. Since 1992, he has held positions for 22 years in the offices of various European Commissioners and in the services of DG Comp.
