Geradin Partners (GP), a rapidly growing pan-European law firm specializing in competition law, tech regulation, and litigation, has bolstered its Paris office by hiring Marie-Laure Combet as a partner. This move follows the office’s opening in April of this year. The firm also has offices in Brussels, London, and Amsterdam.
Marie-Laure Combet brings nearly 20 years of experience in competition, EU regulatory, and foreign direct investment (FDI) law. She has a strong background in handling complex European cartel, abuse of dominance, and merger cases before the European Commission and the French Competition Authority. Combet has also worked on high-profile EU State aid and regulatory cases across various sectors, including energy, air transportation, and finance.
In her new role, Combet will collaborate closely with Marc Barennes, a former EU official and competition litigator, and Damien Geradin, a competition law and tech expert who co-founded the firm and is based partly in Paris. Together, they aim to strengthen the firm’s offerings in France.
Damien Geradin expressed enthusiasm about the new hire, emphasizing that France is crucial to the firm’s strategy in competition law, tech regulation, and litigation. He noted that Combet’s extensive experience would complement the expertise of Marc Barennes, particularly in damages litigation.
Marc Barennes also welcomed Combet, highlighting the firm’s ambition to expand its Paris presence by recruiting additional top-tier competition lawyers. He emphasized that Combet’s recognized antitrust expertise aligns perfectly with the firm’s goals of innovation and excellence at both the French and EU levels.
