Authorities have raided the offices of around 10 large construction companies in connection with a probe into possible offences regarding public tenders in what was the competition watchdog’s biggest investigation to date.
The raids were carried out by officials from the competition commission (CPC) and the auditor-general’s office on Tuesday.
The CPC said the raids were part of an investigation into bid rigging concerning public competitions for the maintenance of roads and motorways between 2007 and 2014.
CPC chief Loukia Christodoulou said the probe was at an early stage.
“All the documents that have been collected are being evaluated at the moment,” she said, declining to provide further details of the investigation.
The companies involved in the affair are: Cybarco, Iacovou Brothers, Medcon Construction, Charilaos Apostolides, ?. Panayides, Loizos Iordanou, FAP construction, General Constructions, Nemesis, Nemesis Asphalt, and Zemco Construction.
