Standard Chartered Bank has been approved by the Competition Commission of India to buy some of Barclays’ loan assets. The Commission backed its decision by pointing out there are a number of competitors in India’s banking market that issue personal loans, including personal installment loans, loans against property and home loan finance, the types of loan portfolios which Standard Chartered Bank will be buying.
