After the announcement of a fine imposed by the Federal Commission for Economic Competition (Cofece), Heineken Mexico announced that it respects the resolution of the authority, but will use the corresponding legal resources to fight this resolution, which is still subject to the final decision of the courts.
“Heineken Mexico reaffirms its commitment to always operate within the framework of Mexican laws and comply with what is established by the authorities; for Heineken Mexico free economic competition is a priority to strengthen the market and the Mexican beer industry,” the company said.
COFECE imposed a fine of MX$11.8 million pesos (approximately US$619,000) on Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma for the breach of some of the actions that it undertook to eliminate anticompetitive effects in the market
