Peru: Regulator sets sights on global cooperation

Peru’s competition regulator INDECOPI has announced the successful signing of several cooperation agreements with various international and global institutions. Among the agencies approached by INDECOPI are the Federal Trade Commission, as well as the World Bank and the Organization of American States (OAS).

The cooperation agreements are part of an effort to strengthen INDECOPI’s performance in competition matters, and will serve as part of a continent-wide Quick Alert system for possibly unsafe consumer products.

Peruvian authorities were praised by the World Bank for their performance as heads of Latin America’s Regional Competition Center. Finally, Perú reached an agreement with the FTC which will consolidate Peru’s National School for the Defense of Competition and Intellectual Property as an officially recognised regional training center in competition matters, having been praised for their work in the training of academics and expert officials.
