UK: One bidder remains in broadband cash-grab, slams those who dropped out of race

IT service provider Fujitsu has announced it has pulled out of the bidding for more than $800 million of taxpayer cash in an effort to push broadband towards the countryside; BT now remains the only bidder for the money. The Ministry of Fun’s Broadband Delivery UK program, which aims to bring broadband to more rural parts of the nation, will distribute the money to the winning bidder. In response to the news, BT slammed its opponents in a statement that said those who pulling out of the bidding are “unwilling to invest large sums that are required without being guaranteed a short-term return.”
