US: Delta, Virgin joint venture takes off next March

The recently approved joint venture between Delta Airlines and Virgin Atlantic Airways will begin next March, according to reports, in an agreement that will add new transatlantic flight options.

    The partnership began last year as Delta looking to acquire a 49 percent stake in Virgin, previously owned by Singapore Airlines. That buyout was eventually cleared by the Department of Transportation earlier this year.

    According to reports, the airlines will now align their slots at Heathrow Airport in London; the airlines say connecting flight times will be reduced for consumers following the merger.
