Home loan site Tree.com, which also runs LendingTree.com, has lost its fight against rivals for allegations they infringed on Tree.com patents, say reports.
Tree.com accused competitors, including Zillow, of infringing on patents regarding technology that allows consumers to borrow money online.
But Tree.com emerged defeated Thursday as a judge not only ruled in favor of the defendants, but also invalidated Tree.com’s patents.
The website said it plans to appeal the decision.
The suit was filed in 2010.
