Australia: ACCC decision to increase international competition for grain storage

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has reportedly allowed GrainCorp, a grain storage business, to make long-term agreements with exporters to use Australia’s east coast ports. GrainCorp will begin offering the deals this month. While the ACCC justified its decision by saying the agreements would make for a more secure market, a spokesperson for GrainCorp says the deal will also make the sector more internationally competitive.
