Axinn, Veltrop & Harkrider, a leading law firm renowned for its expertise in antitrust, intellectual property, and high-stakes litigation, has announced the appointment of Jeny Maier as its new Managing Partner, effective January 1, 2024. Maier, a distinguished antitrust partner, will succeed Matt Becker, who successfully led the firm for six years and will now focus on the intellectual property group.
Maier, who joined Axinn‘s Executive Committee in 2022, is celebrated for her two decades of experience advising corporations on transformative transactions. As a leader in the antitrust practice, one of the largest in the country, she has been instrumental in guiding clients through multibillion-dollar M&A deals, including Sunrun’s $3.2 billion acquisition of Vivint Solar and Take-Two Interactive’s $12.7 billion acquisition of Zynga.
In her new role, Maier expressed enthusiasm about leveraging her extensive business and strategic insights gained from advising clients on critical business initiatives. “Axinn is a premier law firm that delivers unparalleled commercial guidance, navigating complexities to achieve success for our clients in the courtroom, the boardroom, and the marketplace,” said Maier.

Before her appointment as Managing Partner, Maier played crucial roles within the firm’s antitrust practice. Antitrust, along with intellectual property and high-stakes litigation, is one of the core practice areas at Axinn. The firm has recently garnered attention for serving as counsel to Google in ad-technology lawsuits brought by the Department of Justice, state attorneys general, and private parties. Additionally, Axinn acted as counsel to VMware in its monumental $69 billion acquisition by Broadcom, heralded by The Wall Street Journal as “one of the largest technology transactions ever.”
Matt Becker, the outgoing Managing Partner, expressed confidence in Maier’s leadership skills, stating, “Jeny combines undeniable leadership skills with a background in economics and a talent for strategic thinking—characteristics that will benefit Axinn as much as they do our clients.” Becker will continue to contribute to the firm, serving on Axinn’s Executive Committee alongside Jeny Maier and Daniel Bitton.
