Chile: BancoEstado reopens accounts for cryptocurrency platform

 |  May 29, 2018
Chilean bank BancoEstado has contacted crypto-currency traders CryptoMKT and Buda to comply with the order of the Tribunal for the Defense of Free Competition (TDLC) and reopen their. Thus, it has opened the first current account for CryptoMKT, as confirmed by Martín Jofré, founding partner of the cryptocurrency platform.

The above came after the TDLC ordered banks to reopen the accounts they had closed belonging to cryptocurrency platforms, which appealed before the Tribunal: CryptoMKT and Buda. Buda remains in talks with BancoEstado for the reopening of their account, a deal that could be finalized next week.

Although for now this is the first cryptocurrency platform account to be reopened in the country, there remains to see what Scotiabank and Itaú will do, including appealing against the cautionary measure approved by the TDLC.
