ParkMobile Enables Google Maps, Google Pay Payments for 100 More Cities

Smart parking and mobility solutions provider ParkMobile has added 100 more U.S. cities that can use Google Maps and Google Pay to pay for parking meters and parking lot fees via ParkMobile, according to a Monday (Nov. 22) press release.

Google and ParkMobile joined forces in November 2020 after the launch of the newly revamped Google Pay app. The parking payment feature was added to Google Maps in May.

ParkMobile’s integration with Google Pay allows drivers to pay for parking in more than 350 cities across the U.S. without needing to download a separate parking app or create a ParkMobile account. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Sommerville, Massachusetts; and Jersey City, New Jersey — as well as the University of Georgia, UC Davis and Arizona State University — are among the most recent additions, according to the announcement.

On Google Maps, ParkMobile users can travel to their destination and pay for parking at most locations where ParkMobile is accepted. To pay, drivers can either choose the “pay for parking” option from driving navigation in Google Maps, or from the Google Pay app or web page. Drivers can then use Google Pay to enter their parking zone number, add time and select their payment method. Drivers can also extend parking time from the Google Pay app without going back to the meter.

“We want to make everyday payments, like parking, fast and easy with Google Pay,” said Google Pay Product Manager Fausto Araujo. “Thanks to our integration with ParkMobile, users can navigate to where they’re going, pay for their parking and top up their meter, all from the convenience of their mobile device.”

Google Pay for parking debuted for Android operating systems in more than 400 U.S. cities in February, as PYMNTS reported.
