Want to know the nuances of the travel rebound? That’s a coincidence. So do we.
As the latest COVID variant scares people (again), we’re pleased to report no reservations canceled in the PYMNTS Provider Ranking of Travel Apps, where we are a go for takeoff.
That’s really wonderful if you think about it, because travel really is wonderful. It’s that simple.
Now we watch as pent-up demand for new places and experiences is pent down, app style.
The Top 5
So many changes, but we know where to begin. At No. 1 of course, where a tie has formed between Booking.com (already at No. 1) and now joined at that rank by the Hopper app.
Nice hopping.
Here’s another shakeup as the Airbnb app grabs the No. 2 spot. They’re having a great year.
The Hotels.com app upgrades one chart position to an executive suite at No. 3.
Down a spot since last ranking, Vrbo is now renting No. 4. Maybe next month an upgrade?
Taking us out of the Top 5 at No. 5 is the Skyscanner travel search app, not budging.
The Top 10
What’s this? A tie? Feigned surprise. They happen all the time in these rankings.
At No. 6 this cycle we have the KAYAK app (already so ranked), now making room for the TripAdvisor app which is up a spot since last time. You know what they say: “tie, tie again.”
Befitting a hiking app that evokes solitude on a mountaintop, AllTrails climbs up one chart position to pitch camp at No. 7, totally solo. Like on that show “Alone” — only not scary.
Jetting out of the wild blue yonder and right into No. 8 this cycle is the FlightAware app. Nice.
In a similar spirit we welcome ranking newcomer Kiwi.com, the “flight booking engine” that never charted before. Tell us again how no one is traveling (scoffing noise goes here).
Proving that you can never really take luxury out of travel, the PriorityPass airport lounge access app takes No. 10 once again. That’s a win for airport lounging, and a great way to ensure an on-time departure from this Provider Ranking of Travel Apps.
