Telemedicine App Ranking Welcomes New Names and Tied Scores

PYMNTS recently reported that “telemedicine users and appointments increased exponentially last year when there was often no alternative, from an average of 529,00 visits per month to more than 12 million at its peak.” That kind of growth is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Telemedicine visits have fallen some since their pandemic apex but there’s no turning back the tide on this super-convenient way for patients and practitioners to save time and get better.

In that spirit we proffer the latest Provider Ranking of Telemedicine Apps, where we’ve seen some rising and falling in downloads and usage since last cycle as folks figure out which doctor-in-a-phone app best fits their pandemic-era lifestyles.

Stand back as we use ranking radiation to x-ray who’s up and who’s out of the running.

The Top 5

The field of top-performing apps has solidified somewhat in this sector.

With regular office hours at No. 1, it’s the MyTeleMed app.

Still on call at No. 2 is the Teladoc app.

Doctor On Demand at No. 3 is unchanged from last cycle. CEO Hill Ferguson recently told PYMNTS Karen Webster, “We definitely see ourselves as a national practice for primary care and behavioral health.” And why shouldn’t they?

K Health | Primary Care stays at No. 4 this cycle. We don’t know the medical term for that.

Finishing out the Top 5 at No. 5 once again it’s BetterHelp: Online Counseling & Therapy, with web, phone and text-based communications keeping us on an even keel.

The Top 10

This next one is pretty big, so keep your inhaler handy. The MDLIVE app graduates three whole chart positions in a month to take No. 6. Doesn’t happen every ranking, we can say that much.

No movement for the InTouch Patient app, holding steady at No. 7.

Next up is a tie for No. 8 between Maple — 24/7 Online Doctors falling two spots and the Vsee Clinic app which rises two chart positions as the only other gainer in this month’s ranking.

That tied score isn’t alone, as we’ve got another neck-and-neck race up next.

Sharing office space at No. 9 this time out we’ve got the LiveHealth Online Mobile app dropping two spots, joined by the PlushCare: Online Doctor app reentering the ranking after an absence.

Tied scores and other changes made room for a newcomer in this Provider Ranking of Telemedicine Apps.

New at No. 10 and new to the ranking is New York-based Talkspace Online Therapy app, where the doctor is always in. Charlie Brown fans — or should we say Lucy fans — will get it.

As for the rest of you, we recommend a telemedicine visit. Sooner is better than later.
