InComm announced earlier this week that it had partnered with Swedish Seamless to create an offering of the digitization of the company’s vast portfolio of closed-loop stored-value cards using the mobile payment solution SEQR.
The prepaid card provider said in a company release that the card caan be topped up via mobile and function as a payment account in the SEQR-app. The first market for launch will be in the United States.
InComm Digital Solutions senior vice president of sales and account management Dave Etling said in a statement that his organization was excited about the opportunity, and that it would help drive foot traffic in stores.
“By offering consumers an expanded selection of digital stored-value products and digital content, retailers can foster loyalty among a customer-base that’s constantly on-the-go and looking for new ways to purchase favorite songs, games, gift cards and more for themselves and others,” Etling said.
New gift card offerings are becoming more common, as earlier this year, Blackhawk launched virtual gift card products for Rogers’ customers in the new suretap wallet application in Canada. With the app, consumers can safely store payment and gift cards on their smartphones and make purchases by simply holding the phone up to contactless payment terminals.
